Palmetto Woodturners

I had a great time this past week with the Palmetto Woodturners in Columbia SC. What a great bunch of guys and gals. I conducted two all day workshops on "Adding Pizzazz with Texturing" Thursday and Friday and then did a 3 hour demo at their regular Saturday meeting. It was a blast! I stayed with Pat Harris and his wife Patty who were wonderful hosts.

  1. Mike, thanks for giving one of the more informative and entertaining demos that we have had at PWT in a while. I really appreciated your straightforward and down-to-earth approach to turning. I hope to try out some of your texturing techniques as soon as I learn to chase threads. BTW, are all the threads on your lidded boxes in the blog photos hand chased? Do you have any Youtube videos on thread chasing? Thanks again for a great demo! Rod Mortenson AU'80.

  2. Thanks for your kind words. Some of my boxes are hand chased and some are jig cut. I prefer hand chasing because of the fun factor. I don't have any videos on threading yet. The videographer had some technical problems when videoing my threading demo at Gwinnett that kept it from making it to YouTube. Maybe I will do a threading video one of these days. Meanwhile, check out the Wyoming Woodturner videos on hand chasing. The links are under my Woodturning Resources tab.
